| | A can of hash and some coffee | ] | OK, the good news is I won the right to buy a pair of advance tickets to see David Gilmour in concert. Great seats, good price, etc. so I bought them.
The bad news is that the concert is in London.

| | thirsty | ] | So yeah... I'm updating cause BG chastised me recently for not doing so. Plus I'm bored.
So this weekend I have no work and no family functions, seeing as Ma D & Rinky will be spending Easter with friends in DC. THANK GOD!
Next week I'll be going to the Air concert with Leeny & BG & maybe Nick & maybe not Nick (because I haven't actually spoken to any of them in weeks and vague journal posts are all I have to go by). Anyway since it's in NYC it should be fun but I better remember to wear good walking shoes because my usual shoes give me blisters in NYC.
Some weekend soon BG wants to come over to play Ultima IX. I think it was spost to be not this weekend but the next, but since we haven't spoken in weeks this is not confirmed. *nudge nudge* Don't know if Leeny or Nick want to come (or can come) but we'll find out won't we?
And speaking of Ultima, I finally found a copy of Prima's Official Guide to Ultima Collection (Ultima Collection being all the Ultimas from I to XIII, plus Akalabeth aka Ultima 0). So my plan is to play and finish all Ultimas from 0 to IX, in sequence, by the time Ultima X comes out in September. I highly doubt I can finish all of them in that short of a time, but what the fuck. I started yesterday, and I finished Akalabeth just 15 minutes ago. So I'll read up on Ultima I tonight and maybe start it tonight.
Now I really must say something about the chicks on The Swan. They may be thin now and have lovely hair and shapely faces now, but their complexion is still atrocious and their pancaked makeup, rather than hide their complexion, makes them look like their faces are getting ready to melt off. And those people who did all that surgery who line up and answer the host's questions with the most cliche answers outside your typical NHL player's post-game interview, they all need to be beaten. The host needs to be beaten too. |

[Apr. 17th, 2003|02:13 pm] |
So anyway work’s been a pain in the ass the last week or so, so I’ve been out of touch lately. Our guy who’s our memorial expert who rides his bike like 125690138453 miles a day hit a pothole or something and wound up breaking 3 ribs and his clavicle (sp?) in 3 places. So he hasn’t been to work in 2 weeks and we don’t know when he’ll be back, and I’ve had to take up a lot of the slack. And in addition to that, Pat’s undergoing chemotherapy for bone cancer, so I have to take up some slack there too. Plus I have a new server to set up and computer classes to teach and I’m backed up in my accounting work, and I have my memory class. So yeah, I haven’t been on much until last night, and even then I wasn’t on much cause I was sleepy. I talked to BG for a few minutes though and Leeny for a bit longer. I get to see them the next two weekends so that makes me happy. And I’m trying to see if they can visit me on Memorial Day weekend, so that’ll make me even happier. And Leeny got a really high score on some ASVAS&Q^F* test, which makes me ecstatic.
And that got me to thinking about how proud I am of Leeny. I know I tell her I love her and I’m proud of her ‘til it makes her sick, but I never say WHY I do. Well here’s why:
(God, where do I start?)
I’m proud of the way she sets high goals for herself and doesn’t quit until she achieves them. And they ARE high goals, not stupid little ones that anybody can achieve with little or no effort. Like getting her permit and license on the earliest day the law allows (for her state anyway). And like her job. She wants to be an obstetrician, so does she get a job at Target or some fast food restaurant like all the other kids her age? Nope. She gets a job at an obstetrician’s office. She put herself in an environment where she can learn about the job she loves. And she volunteers at a hospital for the same reason. And she puts a lot of pressure on herself to get good grades in school. Why? Because she has the foresight to know that grades do count. And that the only way she’s going to get accepted in a college good enough to be eventually accepted into Med school later down the road is to get not just average grades, but excellent grades, and not just get excellent grades in CP classes, but get them in honors and AP classes. And that’s hard for someone her age, because she knows how much time it takes to do all those things and it does affect how much time she can hang out with friends and stuff, and yes it bothers her but she does it anyway, because she has a goal. I really admire that.
Also I love her because of how fun she is. I mean she is the best! I love going to the movies with her, because there are always inside jokes that get made that are so frickin funny you’ll wet yourself. I love going to the mall with her. And I love going to Poricy Park with her. And I love going into New York with her. That reminds me, one of the best times I’ve ever had was walking about 30 or 40 blocks from this German restaurant we went to back to the Manhattan Club while everyone else took a cab. Why? Because we talked about a lot of stuff, we stopped for this really good fat free ice cream, we got good exercise which was important cause this is when I was starting my weight-loss, and because it was just the two of us. (That’s not meant to offend BG, I love the time WE spend with just the two of us too, but this is a rant about Leeny.) But anyway I also love going to conventions with her and helping with her cosplay, not because I’m into anime, but because it’s just fun so back off!!! And I love going on the trampoline with her and dancing Rocky-style at raves with her and riding in the car and watching DVDs with her with her because these are all fun things to do with Leeny. And just hanging out with her is the best because she is so funny!
And there are also the hundreds of little things I love about her. Like the way she gets excited whenever there is some outside reference to a song or movie she likes. And like how she keeps making me repeat the stupid funny stuff that I do (e.g. insane in the membrane). And how she pouts when we tease her. And her Kermit fixation. And her hair. And the way she dresses. And how she doesn’t worry about whether or not other people loves the same things she loves, because she knows she is her own person. And the routines she gets herself into (like walking around downstairs while doing the 60 second pre-rinse before brushing her teeth). And the mole on her cheek. And the way she puts either ketchup, parmesean cheese, or spaghetti sauce on almost everything. And just simply how beautiful and sweet she is. This list can go on and on.
But let’s not forget the thing I love most about her. Her smile. She’s so beautiful when she smiles. Plus, it means she’s happy. And that makes me happy.
So anyway, yeah, I’ve been real busy lately. |
